I work with both the Replacing Animal Research staff team and the Board of Trustees to set and deliver the strategy for achieving our aim of eliminating the use of laboratory animals in any kind of medical and scientific procedures. I remember being horrified by animal research at a young age and feeling the need to act to end it.  

I have worked across the public, private and third sectors including in academic planning and for a leading cruelty-free cosmetic brands, but in later years my career has settled on leading charities working to create evidence-based change. I have over 20 years experience of working alongside academics, supporting research, and influencing policy and practice. With so many issues facing society and so much money put into university research I can’t stand for it not to make a real-world difference, and that is what excites me. 

Replacing Animal Research is such an important charity as it is able to have those difficult conversations that change behaviour and systems, and can give people the tools and knowledge to challenge existing practice. My job is extremely varied and challenging, but never boring – supporting the team, engaging with partners, managing our relationships, and developing our activity and financial plans.
