Our new Policy Approach lays out a clear pathway for how the UK can lead the way in accelerating the shift towards research that is innovative, effective, and truly human-relevant.

That’s why we are calling for change in three key areas:

• Strengthening regulation to ensure stronger regulatory oversight of animal use in research and testing, and clear guidance on requirements to implement alternatives.
• Increasing transparency so that decision-makers, scientists, and the public can clearly see where progress is happening and where barriers remain.
• Influencing Government strategy into one that champions human-relevant science and invests in building the UK’s global leadership.

By putting these pieces in place, we can drive a faster transition to methods that deliver better insights into human health and disease. This shift will not only benefit people by improving medical research and innovation but also make non-animal research the norm, creating a system that is more ethical, sustainable, and looking to the future.
