Annamaria Carusi

Annamaria Carusi is a research consultant with a background in science and technology studies (broadly philosophical and social science studies of science and technology). In this capacity, she has undertaken intensive work with the European Commission Joint Research Centre unit responsible for advancing non-animal methods (currently known as the Systems Toxicology Unit). She specialises in facilitating the cross-disciplinary and cross-sector interactions that are necessary for non-animal methods to be advanced, and has co-authored two science-for-policy reports.

Through this work, Annamaria became increasingly committed to non-animal methods in all sectors of science by bringing attention to the social, organisational, and political obstacles to using these methods more extensively.

She is excited to join Replacing Animal Research, where she can work with others in new collaborations, to achieve animal-free science and regulation.
