Dorothy Hegarty

Dorothy Hegarty was a lifelong animal lover and founded Replacing Animal Research in 1969. Her goal for Replacing Animal Research was to promote and assist research into new techniques and valid scientific substitutes to replace animal research in medical, biological and pharmaceutical research.

We continue Dorothy’s work and legacy to this day working directly with research institutes, policymakers, and researchers to promote and fund the replacement of animals in medical experiments.
